By the job

Lifting and carrying

For carpenters, linemen, movers and warehouse crews.

Lifting and carrying load the shoulders, the upper back and the forearms, day after day. This is deep tissue: slow, firm work with the forearm and the hands on the areas you ask for, with the pressure checked at the start, in the middle and before the end.

  • Deep tissue, 60 minutes

  • A longer session adds a second area

  • Either therapist; Donnie takes most lifting days

What happens

In the room

  1. 01

Step 1: We ask about the work

What you lift, how often and which side takes the load.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Face down, covered

A sheet over you. The back, shoulders and neck are uncovered one area at a time.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Slow and firm

Forearm and hands on the shoulders and the upper back, at the pressure you pick.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Arms and hands

Forearms and hands last, since they hold the grip all day. Then a minute to sit up.

Good to know

Pressure, cover and what to wear

  • Pressure

Deep does not mean hard to take. Start where you are comfortable and go firmer when you are ready.

  • Covered

You are under a sheet or towel the whole time. Only the part we are working on is uncovered.

  • What to wear

Come as you are. Shirts off if you like, or on; we work around whatever you keep on. Hang a coat on the hook by the door.

  • Ask your doctor first

If you are pregnant, or have had surgery or an injury lately, ask your doctor before you book.

Your therapist for lifting and carrying

  • Donnie Pratt

    Licensed massage therapist

    • Massage therapist license · TN Lic. 000000

Donnie came to massage after a career on job sites, and he knows what a ladder, a truck seat and a full tool belt ask of a body by Friday. He does the slower, firmer work, deep tissue for shoulders, back and hips, and he checks the pressure at the start, in the middle and before the end. He speaks English.

Questions about this session

How deep is deep?

It is your call. We start at a pressure you choose, check again halfway and before the end, and go firmer or lighter whenever you say.

Will I be sore afterward?

Some people feel they have worked after a deep session, and some do not. Tell us how you felt and we will adjust the next one.

Which therapist should I book?

Either. Donnie does most of the slower, firmer work, and Dixie is just as steady if you like a lighter touch.

Book deep tissue.

Choose a day and a therapist, or call and we will find a time.
